The antenna is the single most important part of a station.No matter how good a transceiver one has if the antenna is not effective and efficient.One’s station is as good as it’s antenna.So hams - as we are sometimes called - go out of their way to get a good antenna.The location is also very important.I selected our house with that in mind.In most installations you need several antennas, or a combination of them.We use many frequency bands, that require different sizes and shapes.Of course often we have limitations, so we compromize.
Some of the limitations are space, cost, municipal ordinances, housing restrictions.
